The Funeral at Sundance

December 4th, 2007

image002.jpg

I’m incredibly excited to announce that The Funeral will screen as part of the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. 83 short films chosen from 5,107. This is a huge honor and I’m very proud to be a part.

On another note, turns out it’s incredibly expensive to go to Sundance. You wouldn’t believe the amount of things that need paying for. I think most aspiring filmmakers must be rich. But I am not, and if you want to help sponsor my way to Sundance, follow the link on the right hand side of the page, where it says ‘Sponsor Me’, which will take you to a paypal option. Any help at all is appreciated immensely.

Thank you again to those who have already been incredibly generous in their continued support of me and this film, especially my parents.

It’s been a good week,
Sara

“The Funeral” is dark comedy about a woman in her early thirties who is meticulously planning her own funeral. Possibly due to a lack of other big days in her life so far, such as a wedding, this becomes her moment to shine, to show whom she really is. She selects a casket, poses for a professional portrait, critiques her friend’s eulogy delivery…etc. But will the rehearsal go off without a hitch? Will her flirtations with the young, shy, Funeral Director pan out? “The Funeral” is a funny and sometimes awkward look at one woman’s approach towards mortality.
